Ponatinib Encapsulation into Biomimetic Lipid Nanoparticle

Reproducible and Characterized Method for Ponatinib Encapsulation into Biomimetic Lipid Nanoparticles as a Platform for Multi-Tyrosine Kinase-Targeted Therapy. Ponatinib (Pon) is a multi-tyrosine kinase inhibitor that demonstrated high efficiency for treating cancer. However, severe side effects caused by Pon off-targeting effects prevent its extensive use. Using our understanding into the mechanisms by which Pon is transported by bovine serum albumin in the blood, we have su

    Lipid composition and cellular uptake

Tailoring the lipid composition of nanoparticles modulates their cellular uptake and affects the viability of triple negative breast cancer cells. We show here, that the lipid composition of a nanoparticle affects its ability to internalize into triple-negative breast cancer cells. The lipid headgroup had the greatest effect on enhancing cellular uptake compared to other segments of the molecule. “Lipid nanoparticles are used widely as anticancer drug and gene delivery system

    Agricultural corps delivery

Therapeutic nanoparticles penetrate leaves and deliver nutrients to agricultural crops. Here, we loaded nanoscale drug-delivery systems with agricultural nutrients, and applied them to the leaves of tomato plants. We show that the nanoparticles – liposomes composed of plant-derived lipids, penetrate the leaf and translocate in a bidirectional manner, distributing to other leaves and to the roots. “As the world population grows, there is a need for efficient agricultural techn

    Proteolytic Nanoparticles

Proteolytic Nanoparticles Replace a Surgical Blade by Controllably Remodeling the Oral Connective Tissue. Surgical blades are common medical tools. However, blades cannot distinguish between healthy and diseased tissue, thereby creating unnecessary damage, lengthening recovery, and increasing pain. “We propose that surgical procedures can rely on natural tissue remodeling tools—enzymes, which are the same tools our body uses to repair itself.” Keywords #nanotechnology, #prote

    Barcoded nanoparticles

Theranostic barcoded nanoparticles for personalized cancer medicine. Here, we packed miniscule quantities of anticancer drugs inside dedicated nanoparticles they developed. The unique design of the drug-loaded, nanoscale packages allows them to flow in the bloodstream to the tumor, where they are swallowed by the cancer cells. Synthetic DNA sequences attached to the anticancer drugs in advance serve as barcode readers of each drug’s activity in the cancer cells. “The medical

    Nanoswimmers

The Evolution of Tumor-Targeted Drug Delivery: From the EPR Effect to Nanoswimmers. Therapeutic nanotechnologies have made great progress over the past decade. Skepticism has been replaced by the understanding that precision at the nanoscale allows improved treatment modalities in humans. “Next-generation drug delivery systems will be capable of autonomously swimming towards the disease site and penetrating deep tissue, independent of blood or lymphatic flow.” Keywords #nanop
